Today our Family Home Evening (FHE) lesson was in the car on our way to see some lights at our local zoo. I am so glad the Lord prompted me to instigate our lesson. We normally just have our activity be all of FHE if it is a time consuming one far from home but in December we make sure that every Monday the story of the Nativity is told so our kids will remember why we celebrate this time of year. I won't go into the issues I have with Santa and we DO want our kids to have fun but we also want them to always know and remember who is the real center of CHRISTmas. So we sang a song and had prayer and then RJ gave the first telling of the story. (We all take a turn so by Christmas everyone in the family has had a chance to tell the Nativity in his or her own way.) I could feel the spirit and it started our little outing with a feeling of the true Christmas spirit. So, I am grateful for the promoting because it made the night better.
