Day 181 of 2014

Today my husband was able to take the morning off of work so that he could take our boy to the doctor. He has been complaining about his ear for two days and yesterday he had a fever. RJ got him to the doctor where we found that both ears are infected. We got him some medicine and hopefully in a day or so he will feel much better. I am so blessed that RJ could take him so I did not have to drag all the kids, that our boy got some medicine and that he is on the road to recovery. I am grateful for good doctors and medicine to heal the body. I feel very blessed.

Every Sunday when I attend church I feel God's Hand in my life. I am blessed with His spirit, I get a chance to be cleansed and I meet with those who are also there to worship and to be happy. Life is good :)

Today I am grateful for the reminder of the great man the Lord has blessed me with. RJ is an answer to prayer most days and I know the Lord works thru him to help me. Today I was reminded of what a great supporter he is of what I try to accomplish. When I have a project or a job to do he always is the first to say for me to go to it. For example, I try to make a long run on Saturdays. My goal is to jog a whole 1/2 marathon. So I am up to jogging 8 miles straight. I am a slow jogger. It takes me just under two hours. That is a long time on a Saturday to be without the assistance of your companion. He encourages me every Saturday to get it done. I am so grateful for his support and that the Lord blessed me with such a great man.

Day 178 of 2014

Today is my nephew's birthday. He is turning 10. I am so grateful for technology that I could call him today and sing happy birthday to him. He has grown so much and is such a sweet heart. He is the best lizard catcher I know. I am happy to have him in my family and in my life. I get to see him every Sunday at my parents for dinner and he has come so far. He was a miracle himself as my brother and sister-in-law were told they would not be able to have kids. I love my little snake charmer :) I thank the Lord for this special little guy in our family.

Day 177 of 2014

A member of our ward passed away today. He was serving a mission. He went into the hospital a few weeks ago and today the Lord called him home. We, as a ward and stake, have fasted and prayed and put his name on the prayer roll. We prayed for a miracle of healing. We did not get it as expected. His time was done here and to be healed he needed to go home. He has a mission to fulfill there. As I prayed for his family and friends the Lord sent me the Comforter. I knew that everything was in His hands and He would take care of everyone who's heart hurt. I am grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost that I may feel that comfort and get a witness for myself of the truthfulness of eternal families and that the Lord will never forsake His children.

Day 176 of 2014

Two awesome things happened today to show me God's love. First, I became an aunt again at 3:57am to a beautiful little niece! She is so precious. The momma is good and healthy and so is baby. That is a miracle every time. Woman walk thru the valley of death to give birth so for them both to be healthy is a gift from God. Second, I got to go to the temple today. My in-laws were very sweet and watched all 4 of my kids for hours so that I could go. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the temple. For my sweet sixteen party I got to choose to do anything I wanted. I chose to go do baptism for the dead with my parents because I love the temple and I love my parents. It was an awesome experience. It only gets better as you get older and make more covenants. It was a great experience today. I am so happy I got to go and with my mommy. Win win. Through a gentle nudge from the Lord and the sacrifice of a days activities for my in-laws I was able to be in my favorite place on this planet. Today is a good day.

Today I got a ton done. I am so grateful for the energy and motivation the Lord blessed me with. I sure needed it. I did not really want to do anything but it seemed as I was saying that to myself and contemplating just sitting and doing nothing I found that my body was already in motion on its way to do something. This happened more than once. The Lord gave me many nudges today.

I love to laugh. I really do. (I will not sing the song from Mary Poppins, don't worry) It is also very healthy for you. A good, deep gut laugh will do wonders for your mood and for your day. I am very blessed in that my dad is hilarious and I have the opportunity for such laughter often. Today was a good one. I laughed so hard that tears came to my eyes and my dad got laughing so hard he couldn't talk. It was really needed and was fun. I am grateful the Lord has a sense of humor and He blessed my family with some of it.

We listened to the Spirit and went to a family thing today. I am so glad we did. We were the only ones who showed up. I know that this little girl was disappointed that more did not come but I am glad that we were there to support her. The Spirit was there and it was a good experience. I am glad the Lord nudged us and we listened.

Today I had the opportunity to attend a baptism of one of RJ's cousins. She looked beautiful and was very happy. There was some drama surrounding the baptism but I felt the Spirit at least tell me that this cousin was happy. She had made her own decision and she was happy with it. I am happy for her and I think that she looked radiant. I am grateful for our agency and that we can make our own decisions and that when we make good ones we are blessed. I know she will be blessed and I pray she will continue to follow the Spirit and make right choices so she will continue to be blessed.

I went to the zoo today with my mom and my sister in law and her two boys, my brother also came later. It was so much fun. One thing that I am grateful for and that I see as a blessing in my life is the relationship that I have with my nephews. I love them both dearly and I am grateful for the love and the excitement they show me when they see me. They are both so fun in their own way and I really enjoyed spending time with them. The Lord has blessed me with some great family. I was reminded of that while going through the reptile house and seeing those snakes with the eyes of my nephew. It was great.

I love family stories! Today I got to 'interview' my mom about some history. It was a great time and I can't wait to do it again. So, the Lord providing the time in my busy day to be able to do it with NO interruptions from kids was awesome.

I miss my brother. I also miss the life he could have led if he had not been so ill. Mostly I miss the days when he was normal and he was Joe. Today I had a talk with my mom about him and it made me feel better. I know he is in a better place. I know he is doing all he can to get better. I know he is Joe again. I did not loose him, in a way I got him back. So today I am so grateful for eternal families and that the Lord loves us enough to give us as much mercy as He possibly can so we have the chance to make some things right through the Atonement. He really does loves us.

Our sprinklers are not in working order. Our grass needed a drink. The Lord has made it rain all day long. Our grass is happy. RJ is happy because he has more time to fix our problem. I am very grateful that the Lord looks after us, even down to our lawn. I am sure we are not the only one He is blessing with this rain. He is the best multi- tasker. I can't wait until I can help with that.

We received another tender mercy from the Lord today. I have been waiting for our car insurance premium to go through and it had not as of this morning so we called to check and make sure everything was fine. Our insurance company got a new system and it hasn't started working yet so we get a free month of insurance. They are not going to take out our premium and we are still fully covered. That extra money is a blessing. I am so grateful for the little, yet big, ways the Lord looks out for His children.

Good men make life sweeter and more vibrant. I am blessed to have many good men in my life. Today we celebrate father's. I have my daddy, who I adore. From the time I can remember I always wanted to be like him. I wanted to be funny like him. I wanted to be strong like him. I wanted to be smart like him. I wanted to be spiritual like him. I don't know how well I have succeeded but I do know that I will forever be in his debt for the person I am today. I know because of his example I have become better and will continue to with his love and support. 

I also have my dad by marriage. He is a great support to our family and I know he loves us. He has been a good example to me and has accepted me with all my faults and treated me like a daughter. 

I have my husband who spoils me rotten and who honors his priesthood. He is the best daddy to my children I could have ever wished for and he loves and supports all of us. I love that he would rather be home with us than anywhere else. His heart is where we are and that's where he likes to be. I love that. 

I have many brothers and uncles and cousins and friends who have made life better and sweeter by their presence in my life and the life of my children. I value their love and support. 

I have my Father in Heaven who has given me everything I have and has given me all these great men to look up to and to love. He has given me life and salvation. He has given me the Plan of Happiness. He has given me hope through the atonement of His Son. He loves me and has promised me everything if I will obey Him. And like the earthly fathers and the sweet husband He has given me, He believes in me.

So today I see God's Hand through all the great men I have in my life and that I know I will continue to have.

I love Saturdays because we get to do so much as a family. The Lord has given us each other and I know that because we live the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ we are happy together and always will be. This makes me very happy and grateful to my Savior for my family and for Saturdays :)

I have a case of blood aversion. When I see it or it is described too graphically in word or written text I get a little on the faintish side. I was not always this way. I used to have the strongest stomach and head of the bunch. I was going to be a police officer and so I did my internship with a crime lab. I saw all sorts of not-so-pleasant things there. Did not make my tummy do even one somersault. That all ended when I went through my first pregnancy. After that I can't look at it or I see stars. Even the blood off a rare steak can make me go light headed. Not good. So, this back story is leading up to God's Hand in my life today. My youngest awoke from her nap and was talking to herself so I finished my run before I went to fetch her. I got off the treadmill and was about to go get her when I hear her SCREAMING. I hurry in and she has blood on both hands, arms, on the crib bars and in her bed. I should have fallen over. The Lord stepped in and kept my head cool. I took her out, checked her over, found the problem and cleaned her up. She had cracked her mouth on the side of the crib and her lip and upper gums were bleeding. She was fine after that and has been eating and drinking just fine. It seems she will have no ill effects from her face plant into the crib but I am so grateful I did not let her down. The Lord strengthens me when I am alone so that I can deal with such problems (what mom doesn't deal with blood all the time?) on my own. When someone else is there to take over my legs go all jiggly and I see stars. I know the Lord takes over when I can't do it myself. He is always present when I need Him.

How often do I overlook the ability to taste? Often. I was thinking of that today.  I joke I am the size that I am because I like food too much. As I was thinking of this I realized how blessed I am to be able to taste, to be able to love or hate a certain flavor. Some do not have this ability or are not blessed with the opportunities to get or put together the delicious food I enjoy. So, today I am grateful the Lord gave me the ability to taste and enjoy chocolate. It was very much needed today and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am grateful for open communication. The Lord blessed me with a husband who is very easy to talk to and resolve differences with. We both have worked hard, with the help of the Lord, and have a great back and forth. I am so grateful for this and that we can resolve things before they get petty or out of hand. This makes a marriage a lot easier :)

Some days are funner than others. Today was an 'other' day. Even with that said I am still very grateful for the counsel the Lord gave me to stay home with my children and that my husband is very good at supporting me in that. I love staying home with my kids and helping them to master all the skills they will need to be on their own in their own families. So I will be content with where I am at, even on 'other' days.

I have been blessed to have had a really awesome bishop when I was younger. He was the one who interviewed me to be baptized. He took me to do my first baptism for the dead. I have loved this man since we first moved into that ward. I have stayed friends with him and have a standing tradition of taking him sugar cookies every December. Tonight we went over and had Family Home Evening at his house/farm. The kids got to feed the animals and play in the yard while we adults talked and laughed. It was a great night. I am so grateful the Lord placed this loving man and his loving wife in my life. They have been great friends and I consider them family. What a great night made possible through my Heavenly Father.

I am very grateful for family. We had a family party today and I am grateful for the fun we had. There was no contention or arguing. No one insulted anyone else or HAD to be right at the expense of someone else. Everyone got along, we had a lot of laughs and talked about some serious issues but mostly enjoyed each other and the beautiful night and the fun of kids playing. It was a great night and I am very grateful the Lord provided the means for it to come to pass.

Today my mother was awesome and watched all 4 of my children so my husband and I could have a date. The Lord gave me a great mother and my kids a great Nana. But it gets even better from there. For our date we got to go visit our Mimi and spend some one on one time with her. It was very relaxing and nice to see her in such good spirits. I am so grateful for her and her example. So today I was blessed by two great ladies in my life. Great day.

I am really grateful that we have technology at our fingertips that lets us record things. I record video and voice, I take pictures. Today the Lord let me hear through this wonder of technology a blessing given and I got to type it out for the individual who received it. Very sweet and brought the spirit to my nightly ritual and made me thankful for this person and the service they render. I am very grateful for the opportunity.

Today I was not witness to but was able to get the account of a blessing that I was present for coming to pass. It brought tears to my eyes as the spirit whispered to me the sweet way this blessing was brought to pass. I still tear up thinking of it. It was a very special experience for our family so I can't share details but I know that when the Lord speaks thru one of His worthy servants it will come to pass. "Whether by mine own voice or the voice of my servants, it is the same." D&C 1:38 I am so grateful the Lord let me share in this.

Today I transcribed some blessings that have been given and we recorded to save for future reference. I love that we started doing this. I love to look back and see what was said and not try to have to remember. It has been a great blessing to me personally and a great strength. As I was going through these I could feel the spirit confirm to me again how true they were and the power of the priesthood. I am so blessed to live in this time and to be able to have so many blessings given to me by such great men, best of all my sweet husband and traveling buddy for eternity. He brings me such comfort and peace through using his priesthood worthily. I am very blessed.

I am grateful for a washing machine. Today is laundry day at the Hill home and I was thinking how spoiled I am. My life would be busier and, I believe, harder if I did not have the convenience of a washer and dryer. The Lord has blessed us that we have always had a working washer and dryer in our home. So today I thank The Lord for knowing my limits and blessing my laundry.

A quiet, relaxed Sunday is what I needed today and I am so grateful I got it. It was very pleasant and I felt the spirit as I attended my meetings. The Lord gave me a day off from stress.
